Centra invests over £1.25M to help NI ‘Live Well’

Centra is investing just over £1.25m this year to help inspire the people of Northern Ireland to ‘Live Well’.

This investment includes the Centra 10-Week Wellness Plan, which launched this week, an extensive range of healthier food and drinks in-store, an enhanced series of family fun ‘Run Together’ 5K events, a series of summer roadshows across Northern Ireland and participation in the Belfast Marathon and Half Marathon.

The Centra commitment to health and wellbeing represents a major investment for the company, explained Jennifer Morton, Centra Brand Manager: “We have listened to our customers who are telling us their health is hugely important to them.  So, building on the work we did last year, we have created a year-long programme of varied events and an incredible online resource, backed up by a super range of healthy foods and drinks available in our stores, that puts health and wellbeing at the top of our agenda.”

As part of this commitment to healthier living, Centra has enlisted the help of a top team of ambassadors to create the Centra 10-Week Wellness Plan which is available now.  The ambassadors’ expert advice on personal fitness, nutrition and mindfulness is worth £600 but Centra is making the advice free to everyone who signs up online.

Jennifer continued: “Accessing the multi-faceted 10-Week Wellness Plan is really easy; you just have to sign up online for free and you will immediately get expert advice, tips and recipes that will help you live a healthier life.  We have hand-picked a team of dedicated ambassadors who really embody the values of healthy body and mind, that are so important to Centra and our customers.

“Our top experts who are Nutrition Ambassador, Jane McClenaghan, Run Together Ambassador, Johnny Davis and our Mindfulness Ambassador, Bridgeen Rea-Kaya, have given us some inspiring advice and tips, that would cost over £600 if you wanted to access it privately, but as part of our commitment to getting people healthier, we are giving it away free to all who sign up”, said Jennifer.

Centra’s free 10-Week Wellness Plan has been given a reboot for 2018 and contains even more practical information, videos and advice on how people can address serious health issues today.

Jennifer continued: “Our customers have told us that they love the Centra convenience offering but that their health and wellbeing is very important to them. This has been the driving force behind our enhanced ranges of healthy food and drink and in making our Run Together events, summer roadshows and the 10-Week Wellness Plan absolutely free to all of our customers.”

The 10-Week Wellness Plan includes fitness challenges, supported by nutritious meal plans and recipes and mindfulness tips and includes: a 10-Day Live Well Guide packed with suggestions of small changes that can make a big difference to your health; and two 30-day Live Well challenges designed to improve your fitness and wellbeing.

The new programme is supported by a range of events right across Northern Ireland this summer, and beyond.

The Centra Run Together series, which returns for the third year, is designed to feed the continued upsurge in ‘social runners’, encouraging communities across Northern Ireland to get up and running together, whilst raising vital funds for Action Cancer. Building on the success of the initiative over the last two years, the 2018 Centra Run Together series includes six 5K runs in locations across Northern Ireland. Following the first run at Queen’s Dub, Belfast in April a further five runs will take place between May and October 2018 in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry, Antrim and new for 2018 – Bangor and Armagh.

A series of Live Well Roadshows will also bring the Centra Live Well Ambassadors on the road, visiting 10 Centra stores in local towns and cities across Northern Ireland, with expert hints and tips from nutrition ambassador, Jane McClenaghan and mindfulness ambassador, Bridgeen Rea-Kay, alongside family fun activities including sampling by Live Well sponsors, Deep River Rock and Low Low, prize giveaways, face painters and family activities.

Everyone that takes part in this year’s Centra 10-Week Wellness Plan will be entered into a huge prize draw to win prizes including personal training packages, Fitbits, holiday vouchers, activewear , and more.
